On February 19, 2026, a roundtable discussion titled “The Chernobyl Disaster: Causes, Lessons, and Conclusions” was held at the Department of Natural Sciences at the Zulkharnay Aldamzhar Kostanay Social and Technical University to mark the 40th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster.

The event was attended by faculty members and students of the department. The meeting was guest of honor liquidators of the accident consequences – Kasymgaliev A.S. and Yuriev A.I., who shared their personal memories and experience of participation in the liquidation of the consequences of the largest man-made disaster of the XX century.

The reports were presented by the department’s staff and students. I would especially like to mention the report by A.P. Borisova, a lecturer at the Department of Humanities, on the topic “Liquidators of the Chernobyl Accident,” which was dedicated to P.M. Borisov, a participant in the liquidation of the accident.

At the end of the round table, the participants were awarded certificates, and the invited guests received letters of gratitude from the university rector and memorable souvenirs.

Such events contribute to the formation of civic responsibility, the preservation of historical memory, and the promotion of respect for the heroic efforts of the accident victims.
