International and interuniversity cooperation

In the 2025-2026 academic year, cooperation agreements were signed with the International Centre for Cultural Communication in Malaysia, the Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance at the International Islamic University of Malaysia, and the Polytechnic University of Malaysia.

As of May 1, 2026, there are 30 cooperation agreements in place with universities and centers in Kazakhstan, as well as in neighboring and far-flung countries (table).

As part of the cooperation agreements between these universities, faculty members and students participate annually in scientific conferences and seminars held at these universities.

The university’s teaching staff participates in international and national competitions in the field of scientific research.

In January 2025, Master, Senior Lecturer, Yesimkhan G.E. and PhD, Associate Professor of the Department of Business and Management, applied for participation in the international competition ERASMUS module Jean Monet on the topic: “Adaptation of the European Union’s Experience in Agricultural Financial Support to the Republic of Kazakhstan”.

In April 2025, Dr. G. K. Kabdullina, Professor of the Department of Business and Management, participated in the Central Asian Regional Economic Cooperation competition. The research topic was “Gender Equality and Green Technologies in 2025.”

During the implementation of the grant project, Kabdullina G.K. visited the following places:

 Consulate of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Barcelona, as well as a number of Spanish universities and research centers: the Real Academia de Ciencias Morales y Políticas Observatory of Economic and Financial Research, Universidad Complutense de Madrid, to study analytical approaches to assessing the impact of green economy processes on food security, and to discuss the application of mathematical methods and models in assessing the sustainability of food systems;

— a seminar at UPC (Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya): a UNESCO Chair on Sustainable Development with the participation of professors from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, which discussed sustainable water management, environmentally-oriented strategies in the agricultural sector, and the potential for implementing green economy practices in the regions of Kazakhstan;

— meeting with leading professors of the University of Barcelona, Hub for Global Sustainability-University of Barcelona (Vice-Rector for International Relations of the University of Barcelona Raul Ramos and Professor Rosa Maria Lamuela;

— IBEI (Institut Barcelona dEstudis Internacionals, an educational center for international relations, sustainable development, global governance, and EU policy, founded as an interuniversity institute with the support of major universities in Catalonia and actively collaborating with international organizations and research centers around the world): a seminar on natural resource management, political ecology, economic ecology, and environmental sociology, featuring leading professors and researchers in the field of environmental social sciences, focusing on political ecology, environmental sociology, and environmental economics;

— Barcelona School of Management (UPF School of Management) with the participation of Pilar Robres, a representative of the UPF Barcelona School of Management, a school of management at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF).

On April 9, 2026, the regional Smart-center of the city of Kostanay hosted the expert session “Galym Talks”, aimed at popularizing the contribution of female scientists to the development of the region, discussing current issues of science and strengthening interaction between the scientific community, business and public institutions. The event was organized by the regional Smart-center of the Akhmet Baitursynuly Kostanay Regional University, the Kostanay regional branch of the AMANAT party and the Association of Business Women in the Kostanay region.

As part of the event, Professor Kabdullina Gulmira Kabidenovna prepared a video presentation, which was presented among the materials dedicated to the achievements of leading scientists from the universities of Kostanay. As a result of the event, she was awarded a letter of gratitude for her contribution to the development of science.

The Galym Talks expert session became a significant platform for sharing experience, presenting scientific achievements, discussing the commercialization of scientific developments, and increasing the role of science in the region’s socio-economic development.

Professor Kabdullina G.K. took part as a delegate in the first day of the RES 2026 International Summit (22 April 2026, Astana), a key regional platform on climate, sustainable development and food security in Central Asia. The Summit is taking place on 22–24 April 2026 and brings together representatives of government agencies, international organizations and the expert community.

As part of the program, Professor Kabdullina G.K. participated in thematic sessions on comprehensive measures to combat climate change, land restoration and biodiversity conservation, as well as regional cooperation in Central Asia and the results of COP30.

The discussion focused on the integration of climate, land, and environmental issues, the impact of climate risks on food security, and the practical implementation of solutions under international environmental agreements.

The summit was attended by leading international experts and representatives of international organizations, including Rae Kwon Chung and Alexey Kokorin, Nobel Peace Prize winners, as well as other high-ranking participants in the international environmental agenda.
