Scientific activity
The research and production activities carried out by the faculty and student staff of Kostanay Social and Technical University named after Academician Zulkharnay Aldamzhar in the 2025-2026 academic year were associated with the expansion of the university’s research topics, more complete use of the university’s scientific potential, increased publishing activities, strengthening the material base of research, training of its own scientific personnel, and the development of student research work.
The university’s research activities are accredited as a subject of scientific and scientific-technical activity ( Accreditation Certificate No. 000915 dated December 1, 2025 ). The certificate is valid until December 1, 2030.
In light of the implementation of the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “ On Science and Technological Policy ” dated July 1, 2024 No. 103-VIII ZRK, the largest scientific research at the university was carried out on the following topics:
“Problems and Prospects for the Development of Socioeconomic Transformations in the Republic of Kazakhstan.” The topic was registered with the National Center for State Scientific and Technical Expertise (No. 0123RKI0365 dated November 10, 2023). Supervisor: PhD in Economics N.T. Baikadamov. Implementation period: November 2023–December 2025. More than 80 scientific articles and one textbook have been published based on the materials of this project. The Interim Report for 2023 has been submitted (IK 0225RKI0260 dated November 22, 2025).
“Legal Aspects of Public Service Provision.” The topic was registered with the National Center for State Scientific and Technical Expertise (No. 0123RKI0376 dated November 17, 2023). Supervisor: Associate Professor R.S. Kaspayeva. Implementation period: January 2023 – December 2025. Sixteen research articles and two textbooks have been published based on the materials of this project. The Interim Report for 2023 has been submitted (IK 0226RKI0188 dated March 13, 2026).
“ The Factuality of Continuous Education for Personal Development.” The topic was registered with the National Center for State Scientific and Technical Expertise (No. 0123RKI0402 dated December 1, 2023). Supervisor: Associate Professor N.M. Alibekova. Implementation period: September 2023–December 2025. Based on the research results, a textbook was published, and over 40 articles were published. The Interim Report for 2023 was submitted (IK 0226RKI0082 dated January 27, 2026).
“Problems of Modernizing Natural Science Education.” The topic was registered with the National Center for State Scientific and Technical Expertise (No. 0123RKI0364 dated November 6, 2023). Supervisor: Associate Professor B.G. Munarbaeva. Implementation period: September 2023–December 2025. Based on the research results, five textbooks and over 30 articles were published. The Interim Report for 2023 was submitted (IK 0226RKI0250 dated April 22, 2026).
“Creation of testing grounds for the design and manufacture of small-sized renewable energy sources.” The topic is registered with the National Center for State Scientific and Technical Expertise (No. 0124RKI0330 dated September 20, 2024). Supervisor: Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor Dzhamanbalin K.K. Implementation period: February 2024 – February 2026. Based on the research results, 5 articles and 1 textbook were published, and patent for utility model No. 9039 dated December 6, 2024 was received. The Interim Report for 2024 was submitted (IR 0225RKI0139 dated April 29, 2025).
“Alternative Energy and Environmental Safety.” The topic was registered with the National Center for State Scientific and Technical Expertise (No. 0125RKI0102 dated May 27, 2025). Supervisor: Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor K.K. Dzhamanbalin. The project will run from March 2025 to March 2027. Five scientific articles and one textbook have been published based on the research results.
In 2024, a grant was awarded within the framework of the state order for the implementation of a scientific project under budget program 217 “Development of Science” “ Modern Challenges of Public Policy: Integration of Green Economy in Solving the Problem of Food Security of the Regions of Kazakhstan “ . Supervisor of the topic: Doctor of Economics, Professor Kabdullina G.K. The implementation period is 01.08.2024 – 31.12.2026. The project funding amount is 89,763,676 tenge. The topic is registered with the National Center for State Scientific and Technical Expertise (No. 0124РК00698 dated 15.10.2024). Based on the research results, 26 scientific articles were published in 2025. The Interim Report for 2024 IC 0324РК00157 and for 2025 IC 0325РК00172 have been submitted. 27,117,000 tenge were spent by 2025.
Professor of the Department of Business and Management, Doctor of Economics, G.K. Kabdullina is a leading researcher on grant funding projects:
— AR19680043 “Digital inequality of the regions of Kazakhstan: assessment and ways to overcome it”;
— AR23489090 “Study of the influence of metauniverses on the development of the economy and society: conceptual foundations, assessment of effects and development of standards” within the framework of the state order for budget programs of grant financing of the Scientific Research Ministry of Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2024-2026.
The results of research on these topics will be implemented not only in production, but also in the educational process in the form of laboratory workshops, master’s theses, recommendations for completing coursework and diploma theses, published teaching aids and scientific articles.
During the year, work was carried out on the following business contracts:
- Development of information security software for Terra Alatau LLP. Contract term: 01.02.2024 – 01.02.2025. Supervisor: Doctor of Engineering Sciences, Professor Djamanbalin K.K. Funding amount: 1,500,000 tenge. Customer: Terra Alatau LLP. The topic is registered with the National Center for State Technical Expertise (0124RKD0054 dated 18.03.2024). The interim report for 2024, IC 0225RKD0042 dated 12.05.2025, was submitted.
- Development of measures to improve legal support for businesses. Contract term: 01.09.2024 – 01.07.2027. Supervisor: Master’s students Oleynik Yu.V., Baizhanov E.A. Funding amount: 5,400,000 tenge. Customer: IP “Rental”. The topic is registered with the National Center for State Technical Expertise (0124RKD0113 dated 04.10.2024). The interim report for 2024 was submitted. IC 0225RKD0038 dated 02.05.2025.
- Optimization of business processes of an enterprise providing repair services to increase operational efficiency and service quality, to ensure their sustainable development . Contract term: 01.09.2024 – 01.07.2027. Supervisor: Candidate of Sciences (Economics), Associate Professor N.T. Baikadamov. Funding amount: 5,600,000 tenge. Customer: RSP Phoenix LLP. The topic is registered with the National Center for State Technical Expertise (0124RKD0144 dated 07.11.2024). The interim report for 2024 was submitted. IK 0225RKD0048 dated 29.05.2025.
- Optimization of business processes and increased management efficiency in the construction of water supply and sewerage pipeline systems. Contract term: September 2, 2024 – July 1, 2027. Supervisor: Master’s student G.E. Esimkhan. Funding amount: 1,200,000 tenge. Client: Akmolatranstekhmontazh LLC. The project is registered with the National Center for State Technical Expertise (0124RKD0204 dated December 30, 2024).
- Development of proposals for amendments and additions to the legislation on advocacy. Contract term: 09/01/2024 – 09/01/2027. Supervisor: Doctor of Law, Professor S. M. Zhalybin, Master of Laws K. M. Abildinova. Funding amount: 200,000 tenge. Client: Kostanay Regional Bar Association. The topic is registered with the National Center for State Technical Expertise (0124RKD0203 dated 12/30/2024). The interim report for 2024, IK 0225RKD0039 dated 05/02/2025, was submitted .
- A system of psychological and pedagogical support as a condition for ensuring successful socialization and personal development of students . Contract term: September 2, 2025 – December 25, 2028. Supervisor: Senior Lecturer I.V. Dubinina. Client: Institution “Academic Lyceum of Kostanay”. The topic is registered with the National Center for State Scientific and Technical Expertise (0126RKD00009 dated January 22, 2026).
The results of research on these business-related topics will be implemented not only in production, but also in the educational process in the form of teaching and methodological complexes, master’s theses, published teaching aids, and scientific articles.
In the 2025-2026 academic year, the volume of printed products amounted to 356 printed sheets. Among the published works: 2 monographs of 20.1 printed sheets, 18 textbooks of 150.3 printed sheets, 249 articles and report abstracts of 70 printed sheets were published.
4 issues of the journal “ Bulletin of Science of KSTU ” with a total volume of 52.5 pp, 4 issues of the international journal “ Problems of Law and Economics ” (volume of 20.4 pp); proceedings of the international scientific and practical conference “Artificial Intelligence and Challenges of the Modern World” , dedicated to the memory of Academician Zulkharnay Aldamzhar (25.0 pp); proceedings of the interuniversity conference of students and graduate students “Students – the vanguard of the intellectual future”, dedicated to the Day of Science Workers and the 185th anniversary of the birth of Ibrai Altynsarin (18.0 pp).
In the 2025-2026 academic year, the website of the KSTU Science Bulletin vestnikstu.kz and the website of the International Scientific Journal “Problems of Law and Economics” www.ple.kz continued to operate , containing information about the scientific journal, the editorial board of the journal, and an archive of journal issues.

In December 2025, the traditional international scientific and practical conference dedicated to the memory of the university’s founder, Academician Zulharnay Aldamjar, was held on the topic: “Artificial Intelligence and the Challenges of the Modern World . ” The event became a significant platform for discussing current trends in digital technology and the role of artificial intelligence in transforming modern society. The International Cultural and Communication Centre of Malaysia co-organized the event, emphasizing the conference’s international scale and scientific significance.
The plenary session took place at the IQostanay smart center. During the conference, participants discussed issues outlined in the Address of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, to the Nation. Experts examined the impact of AI on education, the economy, and the social sphere, and also touched on issues of ethics, digital security, and technological independence. The conference was attended by scientists and specialists from Kazakhstan and abroad.

The conference was attended by representatives of the Akimat of the Kostanay region and the city, the education department, representatives of universities and colleges of the region, educational organizations and representatives of social partner enterprises: the automobile company “Allur”, TOO “KamLitKZ”.
The event also included the signing of memoranda of understanding between the Kostanay Social and Technical University named after Academician Zulkharnay Aldamzhar and several leading educational and cultural institutions in Malaysia. The memoranda were signed:
— with the International Centre for Cultural Communications of Malaysia ,
— with the International Islamic University of Malaysia,
— with the Polytechnic University of Malaysia .
The signed agreements are aimed at developing academic cooperation, implementing joint projects, exchanging scientific experience, and strengthening intercultural interaction.
The conference became an important platform for the exchange of scientific ideas and practical experience. Speakers presented their research results, shared their vision for the development of AI technologies, and outlined promising areas for international collaboration.
The event strengthened the position of the Kostanay Social and Technical University named after Academician Zulkharnay Aldamzhar as a center for scientific communication and innovative initiatives, promoting dialogue between science, education, and industry.
A 25-page collection of conference materials was published, containing 95 articles from the faculty of KSTU, KSTK, the Academic Lyceum, universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan, universities of the CIS, and other foreign countries.
During the year, a number of events were held to commemorate the anniversary dates of the Kostanay region.
On February 25, 2026, a curatorial hour was held on the topic “130th Anniversary of the Birth of Gazymbek Beremzhanov.” The event was led by advisor T.D. Zhurmaganbetova, senior lecturer in the Department of Business and Management.
During the mentor hour, students watched a Khabar 24 television report on the life and work of Gazymbek Beremzhanov and discussed key stages of his biography and his contribution to the country’s socio-political development. An educational quiz was also organized, during which the students demonstrated active participation and a keen interest in the topic.
On March 2, 2026, an event dedicated to the 80th birthday of our fellow countryman Serik Turgynbekuly was held in the reading room of the Kostanay Social and Technical University named after Academician Zulkharnay Aldamzhar . He is known as the “gray-haired steed of Kazakh poetry ,” a laureate of the Alash International Prize and the All-Turkic Poetry Festival.
At the event, Shalganbai Anargul, an employee of the Leo Tolstoy Library, presented an interesting article about the poet and playwright.
Students and teachers read poems and performed the poet’s songs, and a video entitled “Visiting the Hero of the Day” was shown.
On April 15, 2026, as part of the week of the Department of Humanities, teachers Stulnikova M.A., Zholdybek G.Zh., Klysheva A.M. organized and conducted an intellectual game on the history of Kazakhstan “Heritage of the Centuries”, dedicated to the study of the history of Kazakhstan in different historical periods and the 160th anniversary of the birth of Alikhan Bukeikhanov.
First-year students from all educational programs participated in the event. The goal was to provide an in-depth and comprehensive study of Kazakhstan’s history across various historical periods. The game consisted of four rounds, each dedicated to specific topics and stages in history.
The final stage of the game was a screening of a video about the life and work of Alikhan Bukeikhanov.
On April 16, 2026, an educational event for students was held in the university’s reading room as part of the Law Department’s Methodological Week. It included a film screening and a quiz. The event was timed to coincide with a significant anniversary—the 130th anniversary of the birth of Myrzagazy Yespolov, a prominent public figure and representative of Kazakhstan’s historical heritage.
The event’s goal is to expand students’ historical knowledge, foster interest in national history, and popularize significant figures in Kazakhstan.

Sabyrzhan Kamshat Bakytzhanovna – curator of the I. Altynsarin Museum, with educational material “Aibyndy Arysy Alashty Myrzagazy Espolov”;
Dyusembayeva Botakoz Adilbekovna – librarian of the Kostanay regional universal scientific library named after L.N. Tolstoy;
Guldana Battalovna Tastekova , Master of History, Senior Lecturer in the Department of History of Kazakhstan at Kostanay Regional University, and a doctoral candidate, is researching her dissertation on the life and legacy of Myrzagazy Espolov.
As part of the event, participants also took part in a quiz and watched a thematic film, which contributed to a deeper understanding of the historical material.
As part of the Department of Natural Sciences’ Methodological Week, a roundtable discussion, “The Legacy of Manash Kozybaev: 95th Anniversary of His Birth,” was held. It brought together students and faculty to discuss the outstanding scientist’s contributions to science. Participants shared their opinions, discussed the relevance of his ideas, and emphasized the importance of preserving historical heritage.
On April 10, 2026, a gala meeting dedicated to Science Workers’ Day and the 185th anniversary of the great educator Ibrai Altynsarin was held at Kostanay Social and Technical University. The event provided a significant platform for discussing the role of science and education in modern society, as well as reflecting on the rich historical legacy that has fundamentally influenced the development of the national education system. The event’s special significance was enhanced by the participation of city and regional educators, who had been awarded the “Ibrai Altynsarin” badge over the years, as guests of honor.
The ceremonial meeting was opened by Ruslan Batyrzhanovich Abdullin, Rector of the Kostanay Social and Technical University named after Academician Zulkharnay Aldamzhar, PhD in History, and Professor, who congratulated the university’s scientists and staff on their professional holiday. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of developing scientific potential and focused on international cooperation, noting the strategic importance of expanding academic and research ties.
The university rector introduced the event’s guest of honor, Professor Paolo Caputo. Paolo Caputo is a senior researcher at the University of Naples Partenope, research director for Eurasia at the Foundation for Cultural Leadership (FGCL), Italy, an economic analyst, and head of the Business Development, Marketing, and Internationalization Department. He is a leading scholar widely known in the global academic community. He has authored over 300 projects in various fields: business creation, business management, local economic development, environmental economics, the circular economy, the economics of the cultural industry, the economics of information technology, and the economics of the gaming industry.
In his speech, Paolo Caputo praised the scientific and educational potential of Kostanay Social and Technical University. The professor expressed interest in developing bilateral cooperation, emphasizing the prospects for joint research projects and expanding international educational initiatives.

— Altyn Konysbaevna Töleuova, Master of Humanities, Associate Professor. Topic: “The Works of Ibyrai Altynsarin—National, Literary Heritage”
— Akmaral Nurbekovna Serikbaeva, teacher-researcher, deputy director for innovative technologies at the specialized boarding school named after Ibrai Altynsarin. Topic: “The importance of innovative technologies.”
— Ibragimov Mansur Altynbekovich, Master of Arts, Rudny Social and Humanitarian College named after Ibrai Altynsarin. Topic: “Ybray Altynsarinnin aғartushylygy zhane Rudny Aleumetik-humanitarian college tarihy”
— Suleimen Iskakovich Murzatayev, a veteran educator who headed the Dokuchaevskaya Secondary School in the Altynsarinsky District for 20 years, winner of the “Best Secondary Education Organization of the Kostanay Region” competition and a grant from the regional akim (2012), laureate of international and national competitions and educational projects, and was awarded the “Y. Altynsarin” badge. Theme: “Leave a Trace…” — from the history of the renaming of the Ubagansky District to Altynsarinsky District
— Omarkanova Aimgul Tulegenovna, head of the department of excursion and mass work of the memorial museum of Ybray Altynsarin. Topic: “Archive of the exhibition: Ybyrai Altynsarin murasyn zertteudin zamanaui baghyttary zhane museum kyzmetinde gіgylymi — made integration.”
The event included recognition for employees who have made significant contributions to the development of science and education. In honor of the “Day of Scientists of the Republic of Kazakhstan,” employees were awarded a letter of gratitude from the Minister of Education and Science, Sayasat Nurbek.
The deputy head of the State Institution “Department of Public Development of the Akimat of Kostanay Region”, Қазез Қайрат Талғатұлы, congratulated the university staff and presented certificates on behalf of the Akim of Kostanay Region.
During the ceremony, awards were presented to the most outstanding undergraduate and graduate students who participated in the inter-university scientific and practical conference “Students – the Vanguard of the Intellectual Future.” Certificates were presented by Presidential Advisor for Innovative Technologies and Public Relations, Doctor of Physics and Mathematics, and Professor Jamanbalin Kadyrgali Konspaevich. The winners of the student conference were:
— Venera Kumbarova, a student in the “Pedagogy and Psychology” program. Section: “Integration of Pedagogy and Language Education in the Legacy of Ibrai Altynsarin.”
— Aida Satvaldinova, a student in the Tourism program. Section: “The Relevance of Ibrai Altynsarin’s Ideas in Modern Science Education.”
— Aslan Gadiev, a student in the Finance program. Section: “The Socioeconomic and Management Ideas of Ibrai Altynsarin and Their Significance for Modern Development.”
— Asel Makanova, a student in the Jurisprudence program. Section: “Humanistic Ideals in the Works of Ibrai Altynsarin as an Ethical Basis for Improving National Legislation.”
— Bekzat Sarsenov, a student in the “Electric Power Engineering” program. Section: “Modern Models of Technical Education and AI Technologies.”
The awarding of diplomas and letters of gratitude has become a well-deserved recognition of scientific achievements and contributions to the development of science, as well as an important incentive for further professional growth.
The ceremonial meeting became an important platform for exchanging scientific experience, strengthening professional ties, and discussing current issues in the development of education and science.
In the 2025-2026 academic year, cooperation agreements were signed with the International Centre for Cultural Communication of Malaysia, the Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance of the International Islamic University of Malaysia, and the Polytechnic University of Malaysia.
As of the reporting date, 30 cooperation agreements are in effect with universities and centers in Kazakhstan, near and far abroad.
As part of the cooperation agreements between these universities, teachers and students annually participate in scientific conferences and seminars held at these universities.
The university’s teaching staff participates in international and national competitions in the field of scientific activity.
In January 2025, Master’s student, senior lecturer, Yesimkhan G.E. and PhD in Economics, associate professor of the Department of Business and Management submitted an application to participate in the international competition ERASMUS Jean Monnet module on the topic: “Adaptation of the European Union’s Experience in Agricultural Financial Support to the Republic of Kazakhstan.”
In April 2025, G.K. Kabdullina, Doctor of Economics and Professor of the Department of Business and Management, took part in the Central Asian Regional Economic Cooperation competition. Her research topic was “Gender Equality and Green Technologies 2025.”
During the implementation of the grant project work plan, G.K. Kabdullina visited:
— The Consulate of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Barcelona , as well as a number of Spanish universities and research centers: the Observatory of Economic and Financial Research, the Real Academia de Ciencias Morales y Políticas, and the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, with the aim of studying analytical approaches to assessing the impact of green economy processes on food security, and also discussed the application of mathematical methods and models in assessing the sustainability of food systems;
— a seminar at the UPC ( Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya ): UNESCO Chair in Sustainable Development with the participation of professors from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, during which issues of sustainable water resources management, environmentally oriented strategies in the agricultural sector and the potential for implementing green economy practices in the regions of Kazakhstan were discussed;
— a meeting with leading professors from the University of Barcelona, Hub for Global Sustainability — University of Barcelona (Vice-Rector for International Relations of the University of Barcelona Raul Ramos and Professor Rosa María Lamuela);
— IBEI ( Institut Barcelona d’ Estudis Internacionals , a centre for education in international relations, sustainable development, global governance and EU policy, founded as an inter-university institute with the support of the largest universities in Catalonia and actively collaborating with international organizations and research centers around the world): a seminar on natural resource management, political and economic ecology and environmental sociology with the participation of leading professors and researchers in the field of environmental social sciences, focusing on political ecology, environmental sociology and environmental economics;
— Barcelona School of Management (UPF School of Management) with the participation of Pilar Robres, a representative of the UPF Barcelona School of Management, the management school of the Pompeu Fabra University (UPF).
On April 9, 2026, the regional Smart Center in Kostanay hosted the expert session “Galym Talks.” The session aimed at promoting the contribution of women scientists to the region’s development, discussing current scientific issues, and strengthening interactions between the scientific community, business, and public institutions. The event was organized by the regional Smart Center of Akhmet Baitursynuly Kostanay Regional University, the Kostanay regional branch of the AMANAT party, and the Business Women’s Association of Kostanay Region.
As part of the event, Professor Gulmira Kabidenovna Kabdullina prepared a video presentation, which was included in a series of materials highlighting the achievements of leading scientists from Kostanay universities. Following the event, she was awarded a letter of gratitude for her contribution to the development of science.
The “Galym Talks” expert session became a significant platform for exchanging experiences, presenting scientific achievements, discussing issues of commercializing scientific developments, and enhancing the role of science in the socio-economic development of the region.
Professor G.K. Kabdullina participated as a delegate in the first day of the RES 2026 international summit (April 22, 2026, Astana)—a key regional platform on climate, sustainable development, and food security in Central Asia. The summit, which takes place April 22–24, 2026, brings together representatives of government agencies, international organizations, and the expert community.
As part of the program, Professor G.K. Kabdullina participated in thematic sessions dedicated to comprehensive measures to combat climate change, land restoration and biodiversity conservation, as well as issues of regional cooperation in Central Asia and the outcomes of COP30.
The discussion focused on the integration of climate, land, and environmental agendas, the impact of climate risks on food security, and the practical implementation of decisions within the framework of international environmental agreements.
Leading international experts and representatives of international organizations, including Nobel Peace Prize laureates Rae Kwon Chung and Alexey Kokorin, as well as other high-level players in the international environmental agenda, participated in the summit.
From May 25 to June 5, 2026, as part of the implementation of the scientific project AP23484373 “Modern Challenges of Public Policy: Integration of the Green Economy in Solving the Problem of Food Security in the Regions of Kazakhstan,” Professor of the Department of Business and Management Gulmira Kabidenovna Kabdullina, together with participants of the scientific project, held working meetings in New York aimed at developing international scientific and expert interaction.
A meeting was held with Baurzhan Talgatovich Kerimkulov, Minister-Counselor of the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the United Nations. During the meeting, issues related to the international sustainable development agenda, the UN Sustainable Development Goals, the green economy, and food security were discussed.
A meeting was also held at New York University with Professor Jens Rudbeck, Clinical Professor at the Center for Global Affairs at New York University. The meeting addressed the intersection of sustainable development, the green economy, and food security in Kazakhstan and Central Asia, as well as the potential for leveraging international academic and expert expertise in developing evidence-based recommendations for ensuring food security in Kazakhstan’s regions.
Expert consultations were also held with UN representatives on the Sustainable Development Goals, the green economy, and the sustainability of agri-food systems to substantiate recommendations for ensuring food security. Project results were discussed, and Columbia University’s study of international experience in food system sustainability and green transformation was conducted to develop scientifically based recommendations for ensuring food security in Kazakhstan.
The meetings allowed for the expansion of international scientific contacts, the receipt of expert comments, and the identification of areas for further research development in the context of contemporary global and regional challenges.
