On October 7-8, 2026, Astana hosts a training seminar on “Searching patent databases and developing technology and innovation support centers in Kazakhstan.”
The seminar is attended by representatives of Kostanay Socio-Technical University named after Academician Zulkarnai Aldamzhar: Jamanbalin Kadyrgali Konyspaevich, Doctor of Physico-Mathematical Sciences, Professor, Advisor to the President of the University on Innovative Technologies and Public Relations, as well as Leonid Bakunov, engineer of the Department of Digitalization.
The event was organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the National Institute of Intellectual Property of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan (NIIS).
The seminar is aimed at increasing the level of professional knowledge and familiarization with modern tools, information resources and services of WIPO in the field of patent information and innovation support.
The event is attended by representatives of WIPO and Clarivate Analytics, as well as coordinators and staff of the National Network of Technology and Innovation Support Centers (TSCs) of Kazakhstan.
The program of the event includes discussion sessions and an exchange of practical experience, during which participants will be able to discuss topical issues of the CTI’s activities, receive practical recommendations and ask questions to representatives of WIPO and Clarivate Analytics.
The following topics were discussed during the information session today:
1. The WIPO Technology and Innovation Support Center (TIC) Program: advantages and main areas of support.
2. Development of the CPT network in Kazakhstan: the current situation and prospects for further development.
3. Services in the field of technology and innovation support in Kazakhstan: the experience of institutions hosting CTI.
4. The value of patent information and types of patent search.
5. The National patent System of Kazakhstan.
6. Fundamentals of patent search: tools and strategies.
7. Fundamentals of patent search: patent classification.
The participation of university representatives in this training seminar contributes to the expansion of professional interaction, the exchange of practical experience and the further development of mechanisms to support scientific, technical and innovative initiatives.
