On March 11, 2026, the reading room of the Kostanay Social and Technical University named after Academician Zulkarnay Aldamzhar hosted a screening and discussion of the short films “The Hooligan” and “Not Bookmarks”. The event was organized as part of the promotion of the “Law and Order” ideology and aimed at raising the legal culture and social responsibility of the student youth.
The viewing was attended by students from the 1st and 3rd years of the university. After the films were shown, a discussion took place, during which the participants analyzed the social issues raised in the films, shared their opinions, and discussed possible solutions.
The short film “Hooligan” reveals the inner experiences of a teenager who is perceived by others as a “hooligan.” The film demonstrates that external aggression is often accompanied by fear, peer pressure, and the influence of societal stereotypes. During the discussion, students explored the causes of aggressive behavior and bullying, analyzed their psychological and social consequences, and discussed the importance of supporting individuals in difficult situations. The focus was on fostering a culture of respectful communication and promoting personal responsibility for one’s actions.
The film “Not Bookmarks” is dedicated to the prevention of youth delinquency and demonstrates the consequences of illegal actions, including those related to the illicit trafficking of narcotic substances. The plot of the film shows how offers of “quick money” distributed through social networks and messengers can involve young people in illegal activities. During the discussion, students discussed the mechanisms of manipulation and involvement of young people in illegal schemes, as well as the importance of critical thinking and legal literacy in decision-making.
Both films were commissioned by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan and are used in preventive work with young people. The event allowed students not only to learn about current social issues, but also to discuss issues of personal responsibility, legal culture, and safe behavior in modern society in an open dialogue format.
