From the history of the theater:
The Kostanay Regional Kazakh Drama Theater named after I. Omarov was opened in September 2000. The Drama Theater bears the name of a famous fellow countryman – Ilyas Omarov, who made a huge contribution to the development and promotion of Kazakh national culture. In the autumn 2010, the construction of a new theater building began. In 2012, the I. Omarov Kostanay Drama Theater moved to its own new premises, which was a huge event in the creative life of the team. The theater has two halls, a small hall for 50 people and a large hall with a capacity of 276 seats. The new building of the theater is equipped with professional sound and lighting equipment and has all the necessary facilities: several dressing rooms, a rehearsal room and other technical rooms.
On January 27, 2023, students, teachers and staff of KSTU named after academician Z. Aldamzhar once again visited the Kostanay Regional Kazakh Drama Theater named after I. Omarov for the production of the play “Sığan serenadası”. It is one of the works of the Kazakh poet, playwright Israil Saparbay, director B. Shambetov. In general, the students liked the performance: the actors, scenery and costumes are all beautiful and harmonious.
The main goal of visiting the theater is the formation of a common culture, the development of intellectual, artistic, aesthetic and moral qualities, and an increase in the general aesthetic level of students.
